Rob uses industrial materials in new and unique ways creating functional light sculptures. Materials such as wood veneer, aluminum bar, sheet metal and stone are combined forming signature lamps and chandeliers. The quality of light difused though the curving veneer shades is wonderfully warm. The shades are formed into clean cylinders, single cones or woven weaves of birch, oak and pine. The supporting structures are hand moulded carriers of the delicate shades, each uniquely expressing an exploration of geometry and function. Alternately there is a series of fixtures using thin strips of western cedar designed as trusses or arts and craft style lamp bases.
